Description

Responsibilities Overview:
- Set strategies under the assigned commodities to improve buying options and total landed cost
- Develop suppliers and competitive scenarios.
- Plan out the product and service requirements.
- Analyze available technologies and processes to understand cost structure.
- Drive cost reduction with strong negotiations based on facts and data.
- Lead cross functional team in commodity strategy development and present to management.
- Cost model
- Set “should” cost structures.
- Utilize raw material index, cost breakdown and market data to set price trends.
- Support budget setup for assigned commodities.
- On-site supplier visits to review and understand suppliers process and cost drivers.
- Develop supply base
- Create supplier panel and publish supplier status internally.
- Execute to the supplier status by growing, maintaining, or phasing out according to the strategy.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions.
- Develop strong supplier relationships.
- Complete Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Advanced Quote Requests (AQR)
- Manage process with request for quote/proposal/info (RFx)
- Setup supplier contracts and manage price conditions.
- Support customer price agreement by aligning the supplier price index when feasible.
Requirements
Education:
- BS/BA required (Supply Chain emphasis)
Experience:
- Required 5 years minimum in Supply Chain/Procurement, preferably Automotive Sector
- Supplier on-site experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proven management and business acumen
- Capable to conduct financial analysis, cost comparisons and index calculations.
- Ability to build business case and present sourcing recommendation.
- Familiarity with commercial terms and total cost management concepts
- Strong understanding of commodity markets and industry dynamics
- Advanced ability to setup and lead negotiations with suppliers

- Strong written communication and presentation skills
- Works independently under general supervision
